Pentecost

Pentecost2020.png
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.”
— ACTS 2: 1 - 11

St Vincent de Paul provides both Spiritual and Finance assistance

Below, St Vincent de Paul conference in Frisco celebrate a local resident’s full repayment of a St Vincent de Paul mini loan that helped them escape the high-interest debt cycle of payday/auto title loans.

Members of the Frisco conference of St Vincent de Paul celebrate for

The St Vicent de Paul mini loan program (https://svdpdallas.org/mlp/) is a program, for those who qualify, that empowers people to find financial stability and escape the cycles of debt. This is just one of the ways St Vincent de Paul attempts to not only assist with immediate material needs, but also attempts to help develop financial skills that promote longer term financial health.

In addition, our conference celebrated after two of our advocates had a case in which they twinned with other local St Vincent de Paul conferences to provide rental assistance and prevent eviction. The neighbor was so touched and surprised, she cried and revealed she was a fallen away Catholic, but vowed to return to the Church. Her faith had been renewed thanks to person-to-person prayers and financial assistance that St Vincent de Paul volunteers provided.

Please keep all of the St Vincent de Paul volunteers in your prayers as they tirelessly serve those in need right here in the Frisco area.
