Holy Shmoley: Look At What Holy Thursday Brought SVdP!
Almost $5,000!
To be exact: $4,937.63 . . . that’s how much the Holy Thursday collection contributed to SVdP’s treasury. God bless Fr. Larry for promoting SVdP’s needs from the pulpit, and for the generous people of St. Francis who contributed that money. The collection was double the size of last year’s Holy Thursday collection.
No doubt SVdP Frisco will put that money to good use in the very near future as our phone continues to ring with requests for financial assistance.
Our Boundaries
Since we are receiving numerous out-of-area calls, here’s a review of our boundaries. SVdP Frisco is one of 31 Conferences in the Dallas area. We primarily provide assistance to people who live within or near the Frisco Independent School District. There are always exceptions. For example, we help people north of Frisco because SVdP does not exist above Frisco. Our geographic boundaries are loosely as follows: The North Dallas Tollway to the west; Coit Road to the east; Route 121 to the south; and as far north as we can manage. We have occasionally gone outside of these boundaries, especially to the west, but we do our best to keep our money local. People in need from outside of our area should refer to SVdP Dallas where they can search (using their zip code) for other Conferences. . . . When you refer people to SVdP, or give them a business card or brochure, please mention the boundaries! In future updates of our literature we will also include the boundaries.
Appliance Rebate Program
Texans can participate in a rebate program when buying appliances . . . this news may be of interest to many of our clients. Thanks to SVdP Conference member Nataraj Anne for sending along this link.
New Vice Presidents
The chairpersons of SVdP Frisco’s committees are now Vice Presidents of the organization. Official title is Vice President & Chair. FYI our VPs & Chairs are: Cindy Covarrubias, Client Advocate Committee; Maria Helena Ruiz Lopez, Marketing & Branding Committee; Gerry Cerveny, Fundraising Committee; and Katie Golan, Family Resources Committee. By the way, all of these committees need more people, so please consider joining them.
Join Us For April Social
Conference member Jene Jensen is hosting a social gathering for SVdP on Friday 16 April, 7 p.m., 12874 Belle Isle Lane, Frisco, TX 75034. Coffee & dessert will be provided, along with “very fattening” goodies. You are welcome to BYOB and a favorite dessert. SVdP’s mission includes taking care of each other as well as taking care of the poor and needy, so the socials are important to our development as a Conference. Members and spouses are invited to attend!
Recruitment Weekend
SVdP will recruit members during the weekend of May 1-2 before/after all masses. Please send an email to Maria Helena Ruiz Lopez if you can help recruit.
